Głośna i kontrowersyjne produkcja Naughty Dog nie dała szans nikomu z dziewięciu nominacji zgarnęła aż siedem statuetek. W tym dla najlepszej gry roku 2020.

Według kapituły jurorskiej The Game Awards "The Last of Us 2" miało m.in. najlepszą reżyserię, narrację, aktorstwo, dźwięk. No i zostało najlepszą grą. Największy przegrany? Zdecydowanie "Ghost of Tsushima" które otrzymało nagrodą "Player's Voice Award" oraz statuetkę za najlepszy kierunek artystyczny.

Poza tym? "Final Fantasy VII Remake" najlepszym RPG-iem w dodatku z najlepszym soundtrackiem. "Hades" z tytułem gry indie roku oraz najlepszego akcyjniaka. Nagrody dla najlepszej produkcji mobilnej i wieloosobowej powędrowały do twórców "Among Us", a dla tytułu familijnego dla "Animal Crossing".
